View Options#

Description#

The View \(\rightarrow\) View Options menu item is used to set visualization parameters and global application variables. Some items are relevant to only certain of the commands, or their sub commands.

  • Zoom factor: The real view magnification of the main screen. All drawing is done taking into account the X and Y screen resolutions, so a distance on the screen divided by this number should be an actual length in the model’s space.

  • View Center: Set the center of the view screen to be this point.

  • Mesh Fusion: Various meshing procedures have troubles relating to fixed precision data in the mesh (esp. unions and Delaunay triangulation). This number is a distance below which separate nodes are “fused” to be a single node. Having such a global size can cause problems with large structures (relatively) with small features (e.g. cracks).

  • View angles: set the view direction (\(\alpha ~ \beta ~ \gamma\)), where \(\alpha\), \(\beta\), and \(\gamma\) are rotations around x, y and z-axes, respectively.

Elset Selection#

The list box in the middle of the dialog is used to select certain element sets for visualization. This is a convenient way to visualize results inside a geometry, or more efficiently examine a sub-portion of the model.
